Joseph Michael Curtis of Port Huron was arraigned Tuesday on five charges of assault with a dangerous weapon, two counts of domestic violence second offense, assaulting/resisting/obstructing a police officer and carrying a dangerous weapon with unlawful intent. Officers were called to the 1300 block of White Street at approximately 8 a.m. Sunday due to a report of a altercation between two brothers. When police arrived, they say the 32-year-old Curtis, was outside with a machete and charged the officers. Officers demanded Curtis drop the weapon, and when he would not cooperate, but, threatened the officers , they deployed what is considered “a less lethal shotgun” loaded with beanbag rounds. At that point, they were able to make the arrest. Bond was set at $250,000 cash or surety, no 10 percent.
