Beach Week At The Fort Gratiot Light Station

SONY DSCThe Port Huron Museum is celebrating Beach week 2014,a week devoted to children’s activities at the Fort Gratiot Light Station! Kids can enjoy scavenger hunts, science projects, and cultural explorations every day!  Residents are invited to join the Port Huron Museum’s Education Department as we present hands-on activities, crafts and more each day beginning at 2:00 pm. All programs last roughly 1 hour and are presented in the Fog Signal Building unless otherwise stated. There is a small $2.00 supply fee for daily projects.  There is a limit of 30 participants for each program. Please register early by calling 810-982-0891 to guarantee your spot.  A Scavenger Hunt will be held each day this week  from Noon until 4:00.  Attendees will explore the grounds and learn all about the history of the lighthouse while searching for clues to help find the answers during the hunt.  Today the activity is Origami Sailboats – with Bubble Science on Wednesday  – Erosion Science and Wave in a Bottle on Thursday – Lighthouse Scratch-off Drawings  – Friday, and Homemade Bouncy Balls  –  Saturday,
