Firearms Deer Season Begins Wednesday

Tomorrow Michigan’s firearms deer season begins and runs through Nov. 30. A variety of tips for deer hunters has been published by the state Department of Natural Resources.  These tips include – wearing hunter orange clothing.  Remember that Deer hunting shooting hours in the Thumb are 6:54 a.m. to 5:40 p.m. on opening day.  Be aware of baiting and feeding rules.  The state has antlerless deer tags available for both private and public land.   An instructional video about how to quarter a deer is available on youtube.   Consider donating a deer after you have filled your freezer.
