Edward “Ed” May, founder of Albar Industries in Lapeer, passed away on September 18 at the age of 83. A dedicated figure in Lapeer’s economic development, he quietly supported many local charities. In 1969, he co-founded Albar Industries in Troy, later relocating to North Branch to raise his family. His son Christopher now leads the company, which employs around 150 people. Ed’s commitment to community was evident in his involvement with the Lapeer Development Corporation and various local initiatives.
