Free Electronic Recycling Collection Coming Up

electronic recylingElectronic equipment, especially computers, printers and monitors quickly become outdated. Consequently, many of these items end up in landfills.  While these types of electronic equipment are not banned from landfills, the components often contain materials that are hazardous to human health.  For this reason, St Clair County has partnered with Vintage Tech Recyclers to host a free electronic/computer collection event on March 29, 2014 at Goodells County Park.   This site will allow residents, schools and small businesses the opportunity to dispose of their computer electronics and televisions in what is considered an environmentally friendly manner.  Among the items accepted are:  televisions, computers (PCs), all-in-ones, laptops, modems, printers, monitors, CD-ROM drives, (con’t)keyboards, mice, cables, hard drives, motherboards, mobile telephones, fax machines, MP3 players, PDA’s, video cassette recorders/players, digital video disk players, zip drives, scanners, telephones, stereos, radios and video game consoles.   These items will be collected at no charge.    The event takes place in the West Exhibit Barn of Goodells County Park 8326 County Park Drive, Saturday, March 29 from 9 am to 2 p.m.  For more information regarding this collection, contact Barbara Barnes at 810-989-6981
