The FBI, Michigan State Police, Armada Police, and local officials spent a great deal of time at the Goodells County Park yesterday as they walked the perimeter of a portion Wales Township fields. All that was stated by Michigan State Police was that a sealed search warrant is being executed in connection with the April Millsap slaying investigation. The fourteen year old girl was found dead July 24 along the Macomb Orchard Trail after she didn’t return home from walking her dog. Investigators in the slaying first responded to 8744 Marquette Road in Wales Township on July 30. Thirty-two year old James Donald VanCallis, along with 66 year old James Bernard VanCallis, were arrested on drug charges after the July search allegedly turned up marijuana plants. Both men are set for preliminary examinations at 1:30 p.m. today, August 19 in front of St. Clair County District Judge Michael Hulewicz. (con’t)The Wales Township men are charged with delivery and manufacturing marijuana and maintaining a drug house. The 66 year old VanCallis is a registered sex offender convicted in 1995 in Macomb County Circuit Court of second-degree criminal sexual conduct involving a victim younger than 13, and fourth-degree criminal sexual conduct with a victim 13 to 16, according to online records.
