Port Huron Police say that in early September any vehicle left unattended on a public street, alley or on public property is considered to be abandoned and will be towed within 48 hours. Officers are collaborating on a sweep of abandoned, inoperable, and unregistered vehicles within the city limits. Citizens have until August 31 to remove these vehicles off private property. If properly licensed, a vehicle that is not currently in use may be located in the driveway provided it is sheltered beneath a properly fitting cover manufactured specifically for that purpose and with a special storage permit obtained from the Port Huron Police Department.
