State Rep. Dan Lauwers of Brockway Township recently announced his “Rep. for a Day” summer reading contest for students and young readers in St. Clair County. “Rep. for a Day” is designed to inspire children to read over summer break and win a chance to join Rep. Lauwers in Lansing with their family. The contest is open to any student in first through fifth grades. Participants should send a list of completed books and the number of pages read over the summer to DanLauwers@house.mi.gov on or before Friday, Sept. 1. “This is a great way for students to remain engaged in academic activities over the summer. Promoting reading to our children early on can help them develop strong reading skills critical to long-term success,” Lauwers said. “I look forward to meeting the lucky winners and their families in Lansing.” Readers may also visit www.RepLauwers.com for more information on contest rules.
