The Michigan Renaissance Festival will be opening its gates on August 16th for their Royal Pet and Ale Fest. Bring your furry friends to enjoy pet friendly events, while sampling delicious ales throughout the day. Wet your whistle during key events including; the ALL NEW Pig-N-Swig, Micro Brew Tastings, King’s Happy Hour, and the ever popular Pub Crawl. New to the Village of Hollygrove is the Pig-N-Swig, a bacon and beer tasting. Patrons will receive 3 beers each paired with gourmet bacon, served on a commemorative wooden-beer flight paddle while enjoying one of a kind entertainment. The Valley of Aberdare, the Festival’s special events area, will be packed with puppies, pet rescue groups and pet demonstrations. If you’re looking for a new family companion, this is the place to be! Adoption groups; House of Hope Rescue, Last Chance Rescue and Pug Rescue Network will be there to play matchmaker to patrons looking to gain a new best friend. Don’t miss out on the exciting demonstrations and activities such as State Police Dog Training Exercises. Always a fan favorite, Scott’s Disc Dogs will be returning with their high flying pooches performing at 12pm, 2pm and 4pm. Also, be sure to enter into the pet costume contest for a chance to win your pet some well-deserved pampering. This is guaranteed to be a fun filled weekend with competitive spirit and new experiences for both you and your pet! The Michigan Renaissance Festival is a long-standing tradition whose 36th season begins on August 16th and ends on September 28th 2014. The Festival is open weekends and Labor Day, as well as Festival Friday, September 26th. The Festival is open from 10 am – 7 pm rain or shine.
