SC4 – Offers Performing Arts Classes For Youth And Adults

sc4 building 2Registration is open for St. Clair County Community College’s fall School for the Performing Arts for youth and adults.  Evening classes in music and theatre begin in September on SC4’s Port Huron campus. Sessions are available for young children up to age 4, ages 8 and up, and adults. Most classes are 14-weeks long and run the week of Sept. 8 through the week of Dec. 15.  SC4’s School for the Performing Arts launched this summer. New classes will be offered each fall, winter and summer.

Fall classes are:

  •  Early Childhood Music Class – Infants and kids up to age four will learn music through singing and play. Kids must be accompanied by an adult for the entire class period. The class will run from 5:30 to 6:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Cost: $140
  •  SC4 Youth Choir – Ages 10 to 16 can join this fun youth choir. The class will run from6:30 to 7:30 p.m. Tuesdays. Cost: $100
  •  SC4 Community Choir – Ages 16 and up are invited to join this choir. Practices will run 6 to 8 p.m. Mondays, Sept. 8 to Dec. 15. Cost: $25
  •  SC4 Symphonic Band – Ages 14 and up are invited to audition for this band. Members are expected to attend each rehearsal and will perform concerts as scheduled. Practices run from6:30 to 8:45 p.m. Wednesdays. Cost: $25
  •  SC4 Jazz Band – Ages 14 and up are invited to audition for this band. Members are expected to attend each rehearsal and will perform concerts as scheduled. Practices will run from9 to 10 p.m. Wednesdays. Cost: $25
  •  Acting for Youth – Ages 8 to 16 can learn theatre through games and exercise in this performance-based class. The class will run from 5:30 to 7 p.m. Mondays. Cost: $140
  •  Theatrical Lighting (four weeks) – Ages 16 and up will get an overview of theatrical lighting for theatre and dance productions in this class. The class will run from 6 to 7:30 p.m. Mondays,Sept. 8 to 29. Cost: $140
