Free Fall Vision & Hearing Checks for Kids

St. Clair County children starting preschool or kindergarten this fall can get free vision and hearing screenings from the St. Clair County Health Department. Screenings run now through Wednesday, September 3rd, at the newly relocated main office, 220 Fort Street in Port Huron. Parents can schedule online or by phone. Early checks help spot issues that could affect learning, and extra monthly appointments are available October through June. Ensuring children can see and hear properly supports success in school and beyond.

Port Huron Adds Southside Office

Port Huron will open a new satellite office on Sept. 15th at the Elger G. Harvey Re-investment Center on 24th Street. City Manager James Freed says the goal is to make city leaders more accessible and transparent for residents in the South Park area. Instead of housing specific departments, the space will host Freed and other officials for office hours a few times a week. Freed says this move was inspired by recent community pop-up events and will allow face-to-face conversations about local concerns.
