AM For Every Vehicle Act Nears Crucial Senate Milestone Amidst Strong Listener Support

The AM For Every Vehicle Act, a pivotal piece of legislation championed by broadcasters for the past 15 months, is on the brink of a significant breakthrough in the U.S. Senate.

Set to surpass the 60-cosponsorship threshold, granting it a formidable supermajority, the bill (H.R. 3413) aims to mandate automakers to retain AM radio in vehicle dashboards or affix a warning label if omitted.

Reflecting on the industry’s relentless efforts, Gordon Smith, President of the National Association of Broadcasters (NAB), expressed gratitude for the overwhelming listener support. Over 400,000 individuals across the nation have petitioned their representatives, underscoring the indispensable role of AM radio in their lives and communities.

With a robust backing in the House and an impending Senate milestone, proponents anticipate a crucial step forward in securing AM radio’s enduring presence in automobiles nationwide.
