Michigan Gas Prices Jump

Michigan gas prices jumped 11 cents in the first week of the new year, averaging $3.14 per gallon, according to AAA. Spokeswoman Adrienne Woodland noted prices are “much higher,” but no forecast was given on future trends. Drivers now pay about $47 to fill a 15-gallon tank—$10 less than last year’s peak but 15 cents more than last month and 30 cents higher than a year ago. Experts point to oil costs, seasonal fuel blends, and refinery issues as reasons for the increase.
