Move to Ban Water Fluoridation
The St. Clair County Health Advisory Board voted 5-2 Wednesday to back a proposal that could ban adding fluoride to local drinking water. The move supports Medical Director Dr. Remington Nevin’s recommendation to draft county regulations stopping fluoridation. Nevin says new studies show health risks may outweigh benefits. Health Officer Elizabeth King will review the plan before any rules are made. For now, water systems stay the same, but the proposal could reshape how fluoride is used across St. Clair County.

Mural Honors Tow Truck Driver
A bright butterfly mural behind Twisted Scissorz Salon honors the memory of Jason Schultz, a tow truck driver killed by a drunk driver in ’16. Painted in ’23 by artist April Cutler, the mural serves as a somber reminder of road safety. Jason’s sister, Jenn Schultz, commissioned the artwork and now plans a second mural to coincide with the 10th anniversary of his death. She hopes it will remind drivers to slow down and move over for emergency responders, a law updated in Michigan to protect people on the roadside. National Move Over Day was on Saturday.

Teens Injured in High-Speed Crash
Early Monday morning, a high-speed crash in Worth Township sent two teens to McLaren Port Huron Hospital with non-life-threatening injuries. A Ford F250, carrying a 17-year-old from Croswell and a 17-year-old from Lexington, lost control on East Mortimer Line Road just after 3 a.m. The truck veered into two residential yards, hitting two parked vehicles and a tree before coming to rest. Sanilac County deputies say speed, drugs, and alcohol are believed to have contributed. The investigation continues.

I‑94 Closure in Marysville Sunday
Motorists near Marysville should plan ahead this Sunday as DTE Energy crews will close I-94 south of the Gratiot Road Exit 266 for 12 hours of overhead utility work. The closure starts at 6 a.m. and is expected to reopen by 6 p.m. Traffic will be detoured via Wadhams Road Exit 262 and Gratiot Road Exit 266, using Wadhams Road and Gratiot Avenue. Officials say the shutdown is essential to keep both drivers and workers safe during the repairs.
