Township Residents Get City Rec at Resident Rates

Port Huron Township residents will now enjoy City of Port Huron parks and recreation programs at the same lower prices as city residents. Township officials approved the new partnership agreement last week. The township will reimburse the city for the fee difference, making it easier and more affordable for families to join classes and activities. Residents must show proof of address, such as a driver’s license or utility bill. The three-year deal strengthens ties between the township and city while giving locals better access to popular programs..

Plans include a large indoor arena, youth sports courts, hockey rinks, hotels, and even a water park and IMAX theater. Backers say the project could bring thousands of jobs to the area and tap into the fast-growing youth sports travel market across southeast Michigan.
