Michigan Celebrates Olympic Gold

Michigan is celebrating Olympic gold after Team USA captured the men’s hockey title, powered in large part by standout performances from Great Lakes State athletes.

Waterford native Dylan Larkin led with poise and determination, setting the tone throughout the tournament with key goals and relentless effort. Canton’s Jack Hughes delivered the defining moment, scoring the overtime winner to secure the gold medal. His brother, Quinn Hughes of Plymouth, anchored the blue line with smart playmaking and a crucial assist in overtime. Zach Werenski of Grosse Pointe Woods contributed multiple assists and steady two way play, while Shelby Township’s Kyle Connor added offensive firepower that kept opponents on edge.

Michigan talent also shined in women’s hockey. Farmington’s Megan Keller scored the golden goal in a dramatic overtime victory over Canada.

From local youth rinks to the Olympic stage in Italy, Michigan athletes showcased grit, skill, and excellence, bringing pride and celebration to communities across the state.
