Body Found In Fort Gratiot Being Investigated As A Homicide

Detectives from the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Office are investigating a homicide that occurred Sunday morning in Fort Gratiot Township.  According to Sheriff Tim Donnellon, deputies were first called to a possible hit and run pedestrian fatality shortly after 8:00 a.m. in the 4000 block of Keewahdin Road.  When they arrived, it was determined that the victim, 28 year old Kevin Anderson Junior of Port Huron, had not been struck by a vehicle.  Detectives were called to the location to investigate further.  Upon examining the victim, detectives determined that he had been shot.  Further investigation showed that Anderson was shot on the side of the road, then was dragged into the ditch and left for dead.  It is also believed that the shooting occurred several hours before the Anderson was found in the ditch by area homeowners.  The citizens told deputies that they had heard a noise shortly before 4:00 a.m. Sunday.  They looked out a window and saw a car parked facing eastbound on Keewahdin Road.  They then saw the vehicle do a U-turn and park facing westbound.  They told deputies that they believed the car had struck a deer or a guardrail.  The vehicle left the area and the citizens went back to bed.  Sheriff Donnellon is asking that anyone with any information regarding this homicide to contact Detective Haley Bonner at (810) 987-1728. An autopsy is scheduled for this Monday afternoon.  Fort Gratiot Fire, Tri-Hospital EMS and the Michigan State Police Crime Lab all assisted at the scene of the homicide.
