The Michigan Department of Agriculture and Rural Development (MDARD) has confirmed the discovery of box tree moths in Lapeer County, a pest that primarily threatens ornamental boxwoods. This invasive species, while not harmful to natural resources, can cause significant damage to gardens. MDARD’s monitoring efforts, which involve trapping across the state, have now led to an update in the quarantine zone to include Lapeer County, bringing the total to 13 affected counties in Southeastern Michigan, including nearby St. Clair County.
