Allen Road Bridge Upgrade

The Michigan Department of Transportation is investing $2.1 million to upgrade the Allen Road bridge over I-69 in Kimball Township. Starting Monday, crews will replace the deck, repair beams, and update the structure with a new concrete coating. The project, expected to finish by July, will create 20 jobs. During construction, Allen Road will be closed at I-69, with detours via Lapeer, Range, and Griswold Roads. There will also be intermittent lane closures on I-69, including weekend closures to ensure safety for both workers and drivers.

Office Manager Accused of Stealing $47,000

In Yale, Kymberly Williams, 34, faces serious charges after reportedly swiping $47,000 from her job at Center Line Gage, a machine shop. She allegedly wrote fake checks to herself while working as the office manager, a scheme that went on for six months until the company caught on in January and called the Yale Police. Now, Williams is charged with embezzlement, forgery, and three counts of uttering and publishing, facing up to 14 years in prison if convicted. Her next court date set for April 7th.

St. Clair County Cuts EDA Funding

In St. Clair County, government has cut ties with the Economic Development Alliance, a group that helps bring jobs and businesses to the area. The county board stopped giving the Alliance its yearly $310,000 because they felt the group wasn’t open enough about its work. This decision, made in a quick meeting, might cost two jobs soon. The Alliance says it needs to keep some talks private to attract companies, but the county wanted everything public. Now, folks wonder how this split will affect new businesses coming to town.

Lambton County Library is offering free Purple Cherokee tomato seeds to locals through its One Seed Lambton program, available at library branches while supplies last. Senior Chosen to Represent Michigan

Addisyn, a senior at Port Huron Northern High School, has been selected to represent Michigan at the Congress of Future Medical Leaders. Excelling in academics with a 4.0 GPA, she also participates in SC4’s Middle College program, TEC’s Health Exploration, and multiple school clubs—all while working part-time. The Congress offers hands-on experiences, including live surgery observation and mentorship from top medical professionals. A GoFundMe has been launched to help cover her expenses for the June event in Boston. Donations beyond the goal will support her future education.

Easter Egg Hunt

The Sanilac County Historical Society and Port Sanilac Parks & Recreation are hosting the 3rd annual Easter Egg Hunt at the Sanilac County Historic Village & Museum. The event is set for Saturday, April 19th, with activities starting at 11 AM and the egg hunt at noon. Families can enjoy a petting zoo, sack races, crafts, and bonfires. Egg hunts will be divided by age groups for kids up to 12. Donations of candy and treats are welcome. Volunteers are also needed to help with activities.
