Lincoln Park Woman Charged

A Lincoln Park woman is charged with open murder in the Jan. 28 shooting death of Vincent Buckles in Port Huron. Sayon Florence, 36, was arraigned Friday with bond set at $2 million, and a probable cause hearing set for Feb. 25th. She was previously arrested and released before being taken into custody again. A 22-year-old suspect tied to the case was also arrested in Georgia and is wanted for a ’23 double homicide in Detroit. Open murder carries a possible life sentence.

State Police Shooting

In Port Huron Township, a 52-year-old man was shot and killed by Michigan State Police after allegedly threatening officers with a gun on Dove Street Wednesday night. Police had responded to a domestic violence call at 7:50 p.m. When the man came out of a home holding a weapon and refused to comply with orders, an officer fired. Despite attempts to save him, the man died at the hospital. The officer involved is on paid leave pending an investigation by the MSP Crime Lab and the Michigan Department of Attorney General.

Missing Person Alert

Port Huron police are seeking help finding 55-year-old Samuel Serra, who has been missing for a while. Serra, a 5’7″, 255-pound man with brown hair and eyes, was last in contact with family in December. He previously lived on 15th Street in Port Huron but no longer does. Authorities believe he may be in Macomb, driving a red Chevrolet Monte Carlo with plate 61ACR3. Anyone with information should contact the Port Huron Police Department or use the anonymous C.A.P.T.U.R.E. tip line.

Port Huron Homicide Arrests

Two people were arrested in connection to the January 28 homicide of 35-year-old Vincent Buckles in Port Huron. On February 12, U.S. Marshals, acting on tips from the Port Huron Major Crimes Unit, arrested a 22-year-old man near Atlanta, Georgia. He’s awaiting extradition to Michigan and faces charges in a double homicide in Detroit from December. The same day, a 36-year-old woman, who had been released earlier in the investigation, was arrested in Lincoln Park. She’s now in St. Clair County Jail.
