A bat in St. Clair County has tested positive for rabies, the St. Clair County Health Department confirmed. One person who was bitten is now receiving medical treatment. Rabies is a deadly virus spread through bites or scratches from infected animals, mostly bats in Michigan. St. Clair County Community College is expanding its presence in downtown Port Huron after trustees approved the purchase of the City Flats Hotel and the historic Sperry’s building. A Port Huron Township woman is facing multiple felony drug charges after a raid by the St. Clair County Drug Task Force. Officers searched a home on Range Road last Wednesday and found meth, fentanyl, and drug materials. Thirty-five-year-old Alicia Clor was arrested at the scene. She was arraigned two days later in 72nd District Court, where bond was set on charges including intent to deliver meth and fentanyl, and maintaining a drug house. Border Patrol K9 assisted in the bust.

A tragic crash in Kimball Township Saturday night left one woman dead and several others hurt. Deputies say a 79-year-old man was driving a tractor pulling a hay wagon on Smiths Creek Road when a Buick Regal slammed into it from behind around 7:30. The tractor reportedly had no rear lights or slow-moving vehicle sign. An 85-year-old Kimball Township woman died at the hospital, and others were rushed to area hospitals with varying injuries. The crash remains under investigation by the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Accident Team.

Marijuana businesses are suing Michigan over a new 24% wholesale tax on marijuana set to start Jan. 1st.
