Deer hunters in Sanilac County are off to a strong start this hunting season, leading the state with 2,129 deer harvested since Friday. Among those, 1,618 had antlers. The Michigan Department of Natural Resources requires hunters to report their harvests within 72 hours, either online or before taking the deer to a processor. St. Clair County hunters have reported 1,116 deer so far, with nearly 800 antlered. Across Michigan, a total of 63,291 deer have been harvested. The season continues until November 30th

Hundreds of volunteers gathered Saturday at the Marysville Fire Department to distribute over 1,000 turkeys to families in need for Thanksgiving. The SOS Marysville Food Pantry, which raised funds through its “Together We Can Fight Hunger” campaign, ran out of turkeys for the first time in its history, despite having more food than ever before. More than 1,200 families came by, and those who missed out received food from the pantry’s stockpile of over 96,000 pounds of donations.

Lake Huron Medical Center (LHMC) in St. Clair County has earned an “A” grade for hospital safety from The Leapfrog Group, making it the only hospital in the area to achieve this recognition. This marks the 13th consecutive “A” rating for LHMC, which has maintained high safety standards since ’18. In October, St. Clair County saw the median home price rise slightly to $283,000, up just 0.2% from the previous month. Compared to last year, home prices in the area are up 2%, with homes listed at $176 per square foot. Homes are selling faster locally, with the median time on the market dropping to 43 days, faster than the national average of 58 days. However, new listings in the county dropped 4.3% from last year, with about 180 homes hitting the market.
