RESA and Marysville Park Announces New StoryWalk Installation

The City of Marysville will be announcing a new addition to Marysville Park on Friday, October 21st. The new StoryWalk will be introduced with a ribbon-cutting beginning at 10 AM.

This project is a collaborative effort between the City of Marysville, St. Clair County RESA, the St. Clair County Library System, St. Clair County Great Start Collaborative, and the Rotary Club of Marysville.

The StoryWalk is a set of free-standing panels, with each panel featuring a page from a children’s picture book. Throughout the year, the panels will be changed to reflect various other children’s books for the community to interact with. The grand opening will include children’s activities and a stroll to read “Ada Twist Scientist” by Andrea Beaty.

The goal is to promote early literacy and to encourage family time and physical activity. St. Clair County Great Start Collaborative Coordinator Riley Alley said, “We’re trying to share the message that reading is not just a bedtime routine, or something that happens at school or a library, but instead can happen anywhere at any time.”
