Pocket Park Takes Shape

Construction is moving forward at Port Huron’s Military Street Pocket Park, where crews are laying the groundwork for a redesigned space along the Black River. Workers installed steel supports last week, with a concrete pour for the footings planned for this week—weather permitting. Once poured, the concrete will cure for about three weeks before the next phase begins. So far, the city has paid more than 237 thousand dollars for the project. City officials expect the downtown park to reopen by summer.

Dalton Jay’s No. 92 Retired

In Port Huron, Friday night was all about honoring a local hockey legend. The Prowlers retired Dalton Jay’s No. 92 jersey at McMorran Arena before facing Danbury. Protecting Natural Gas Choice

State Rep. Joe Pavlov of Smiths Creek says Michigan families could see help on their energy bills thanks to House Bill 4486. Passed by the state House last month, the bill blocks local governments from banning natural gas in new homes or buildings. Pavlov says natural gas keeps energy options affordable, especially as heating costs rise across the Thumb. The plan passed 61–42 and now heads to the Senate, with local lawmakers like Greg Alexander, Matthew Bierlein, and Phil Green backing the measure.
