On Sunday afternoon in Elk Township, a 68-year-old woman from Croswell was injured while driving east on Peck Road near School Road. She swerved suddenly to avoid hitting a deer that ran into the roadway. This caused her Ford Explorer to cross the centerline and leave the road, ending up in a drainage ditch on the north side. Emergency crews quickly responded and transported her to McKenzie Hospital for treatment. Officials confirmed that neither alcohol nor speeding played a role in the crash. Local deputies and Sal’s Towing also assisted at the scene.
