4th Annual Tree Hugger Hike

Do you love trees, too?
Join the St. Clair County Parks staff to explore the trees of the rustic and rolling Columbus County Park on Saturday, February 14, from 10:00 a.m. to 12:00 p.m. Meet in front of the Lodge. Learn to use your senses to identify trees and plants in winter, discuss how to care for trees and shrubs this time of year, and bring awareness to the threats that local forests face. Discover what trees can tell us about a landscape, and share your own stories of trees and forests. Jennifer Catanzaro, St. Clair County Parks Marketing and Graphic Design Coordinator said, “This is a great way for nature lovers, children and families to celebrate Valentine’s Day – with trees! We hope you’ll join us for some fun in the forest.” Enjoy warming up with hot cocoa and cookies by the fire after the hike. All are welcome at this free and family-friendly event. Pre-registration is recommended, contact Kirsten Lyons, klyons@stclaircounty.org. Watch the St. Clair County Parks and Recreation Commission Facebook page for updated information about this event and in case of severe weather. The program will be moved indoors if conditions warrant.
Columbus County Park is located at 1670 Bauman Road, Columbus MI 48063. Meet at 10 a.m. at the Lodge at the end of the main entrance driveway. Free parking and restrooms are available at the Lodge. Warm clothing and footwear that can get wet and dirty are suggested. This event qualifies for two MSU Extension Master Gardener education hours.
