Poetry & Songwriting Competition

January 23 @ 7:00 pm - 9:30 pm

The 10th Winter White Out’s Poetry & Songwriting Competition will take place Wednesday, January 23 from 7 to 9:30 p.m. at LaCroix’s Riverside Pub at 314 Clinton Avenue in St. Clair. This year’s contest will center on Ed Swiss, St. Clair’s formidable police chief during the Prohibition years, and his battle with outsiders taking over the booze smuggling business.  Entries, including a copy of the song or poem, are due by noon Jan. 18, 2019 at LaCroix’s Riverside Pub, at the St. Clair City Building, 547 N. Carney Drive, or e-mailed to info@StClairOnTheRiver.com.  In addition to winning the title of Poet Laureate or Bootlegger Balladeer, the St. Clair Rotary Club will award cash prizes in each category – $250 for 1st place – $150 for second and $100 for third.  Contestants will be judged on the best story of the “Frenchy, Blink and the Whiskey Train” legend and its delivery.  The competion is open to all amateur and professional song writers or poets and there is no cost to enter.
