For nearly 25 years, YMCAs have celebrated Military Family Month, providing Americans the opportunity to recognize the dedication, sacrifice, and service of military personnel and their families. Throughout the year, and especially this November, the YMCA of the Blue Water Area supports veterans and military families with programs and initiatives that improve their well-being and provide opportunities to connect with other families waiting at home. The YMCA of the Blue Water Area offers Y memberships through the Military Outreach Initiative. providing Y memberships to military members and their families. Halloween tricks and treats are coming to Sanborn Park for Port Huron Parks and Recreation’s annual Halloween Stroll on Saturday, October 27. At the stroll, families dress in costume and trick-or-treat through Sanborn Park for candy and treats passed out by local businesses. Along the trail families will also encounter Halloween scenes and can enjoy train rides, a magician show, petting zoo and music from a DJ. The stroll is at Sanborn Park located at 1919 Sanborn Street in Port Huron from 10 a.m. – 1 p.m. All ages are welcome to the event. Families can save money on ticket prices by pre-registering at Palmer Park located at 2829 Armour Street in Port Huron or online at Resident tickets are $4 per person and non-resident tickets are $6 per person for those collecting candy. Day of event registration is available at Sanborn Park for $10 per person. Burtchville, Clyde, Fort Gratiot, and Port Huron Township’s residents have been afforded the City of Port Huron’s resident rate All children must accompanied by an adult.

The Knights of Columbus Women’s Auxiliary is presenting their 18th annual Fall Fashion Show featuring Suzanne’s Fashions on Saturday, October 27…doors open at 11 for shopping with vendors, door prizes, gifts and fun!. Luncheon is at 12;30 p.m. Fashion Show begins at 1 p.m. tickets are $20 each and can be purchased at the K of C Hall at 7556 S. Lakeshore Road in Lexington – or by calling 810-359-5757 – no tickets will be sold the day of the show.

The Huron Reprographics Oil Heritage Classic will bring top names in Canadian and U.S. curling to Sarnia October 25 through the 28th. It is being held at the Sarnia Golf and Curling Club at 500 Errol Road West, in Sarnia, and will feature 24 teams, playing a triple knockout format with a purse of $18,000. Competitions include mens, womens, mixed doubles, juniors and wheelchair.
