Free Yoga for Cancer Patients at McLaren Port Huron

The National Foundation for Cancer Research says that yoga can have positive effects on the health of cancer patients, and Port Huron Yoga and the Karmanos Cancer Institute at McLaren Port Huron are partnering to provide a chance for patients to try it out for free.

The yoga classes for cancer patients will take place in the Charles Classroom at McLaren Port Huron, and they will focus on gentle yoga practices to promote physical and mental well-being. Patients can work on the floor or learn chair yoga.

Classes will teach mindfulness techniques, body awareness positions to minimize pain, and how to create more openness with your body and heart.

The free six-week session runs from January 10 – February 14th on Mondays from 1-1:45 PM. Those who participate in all six sessions will receive five free sessions at Port Huron Yoga studio, so they can continue their yoga practice.

Space at classes is limited, and proof of full vaccination against COVID-19 is required.

To register, call the oncology social worker at McLaren Port Huron at 810-989-1006.
