Grants Approved at City Council Meeting

At Monday’s Port Huron City Council meeting, eight grant applications totaling nearly $10 million were approved for city park and infrastructure improvements. A standout is a $6.5 million request for the Black River Canal renovations, aimed at protecting it from natural disasters, floods, and erosion. The city also approved funding for a new $2.25 million fire truck. Additionally, six smaller grants will fund park upgrades. While most grants passed, Councilmember Barbara Payton voiced concerns about Sanborn Park, citing inequalities in park funding.
