The company says snow and ice can block meters and vents, which may cause dangerous buildups or disrupt service. Residents are encouraged to gently brush away soft snow with a hand or broom and avoid piling snow against meters when shoveling or plowing. SEMCO also warns people not to chip away ice or use de-icer on gas equipment. Anyone who finds their meter frozen in ice should call SEMCO for help immediately.
