A 36-year-old Lapeer County man, who was being taken to the hospital by ambulance, died after that ambulance was struck and rolled over in Sterling Heights. Police say the ambulance was heading south on Van Dyke Avenue with its emergency lights on around 6:30 when an eastbound SUV on Metro Parkway hit its right side. The paramedic riding in back suffered moderate injuries, and the SUV driver was hospitalized with non-life-threatening injuries. Investigators do not believe impairment played a role.
