Marine City Receives Grant For New Marina And Trails Project

Marine City’s plans for a new marina have been given a significant boost by the Community Foundation of St. Clair County, which has granted $393,000 to the project.

The latest major funding adds to previous grants from SEMCOG, St. Clair County, the DNR Trust Fund, and the Community Foundation. The marina project was voted one of the region’s most important new developments in 2021 by the Blue Meets Green coalition.

The Community Foundation of St. Clair County attributed the latest grant to their partners at the Ralph C. Wilson Jr. Foundation in Detroit. The multi-phase initiative, with an expected total budget of over $1 million, is expected to connect the new marina to the Bridge to Bay Trail and is seen as a major investment in the region’s future, creating lasting benefits for the community, environment, and the local economy.

Future amenities will include a pavilion, restrooms, parking lot, seating, walkways, and lighting.
