MDHHS Expands Focus To Address Stroke And Cardiovascular Emergencies

A stroke can happen to anyone at any time. Statistics show that approximately one in every 25 people will have a stroke in their lifetime. Recognizing the signs early, calling emergency services, and obtaining specialized stroke care as soon as possible can improve your chances of survival.

Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has expanded its goal to address stroke and cardiovascular disease emergencies. They have renamed their Bureau of EMS, Trauma & Preparedness to Bureaus of Emergency Preparedness, EMS & Systems of Care.

The change occurs after following input from experts as well as stakeholders on how to integrate stroke and cardiovascular emergencies into the existing framework of the trauma system. They plan to continue working with the MI Stroke Program to develop optimal clinical treatment and destination protocols.
