Measles Case

Sanilac County families are being urged to watch for measles symptoms after health officials confirmed the county’s first case in several years. The virus spreads through the air and can linger in a room for up to two hours after a sick person leaves. Early signs include a high fever, cough, runny nose and red, watery eyes, followed by a rash that starts on the face. Anyone who feels sick should call their doctor before showing up in person. Two doses of the M-M-R vaccine offer about 97-percent protection.
