Michigan Water Safety Urged

Over the Independence Day weekend, Michigan saw nearly a dozen drowning deaths in local waters, including two separate fatal incidents. So far in ’25, 31 people have drowned in the Great Lakes region. Local authorities urge everyone to wear life jackets when swimming or boating, never swim alone, stay in marked areas, and avoid alcohol or drugs while in the water. They also recommend learning CPR and keeping rescue equipment handy to help prevent future tragedies.
