The Michigan Department of Health and Human Services (MDHHS) has taken the input of nearly 10,000 residents to identify five focus areas for its MIHealthyLife initiative that will help improve the health of residents covered by Medicaid.
The foundation for rebidding contracts for the Medicaid health plans are the aforementioned focus areas, known as strategic pillars, which are:
- Serve the Whole Person, Coordinating Health and Health-related needs.
- Give All Kids a Healthy Start
- Promote Health Equity and Reduce Racial and Ethnic Disparities.
- Drive Innovation and Operational Excellence.
- Engage Members, Families and Communities.
The MIHealthyLife program was introduced in July of 2022 as an initiative to improve the health of Michigan residents as the department prepares to rebid its medical health contracts.
The input provided came from residents covered by Medicaid, as well as stakeholders partnered with MDHHS.
