Mother to be Sentenced in Murder Case

A Port Huron Township mother is set to be sentenced Friday for the 2018 death of her 3-year-old son. Amanda Maison, 34, pleaded guilty to second-degree murder and faces a 9 a.m. hearing in St. Clair County Circuit Court. Her then-boyfriend, 29-year-old Maurice Houle, was sentenced last month to 31 years to life for killing Matthew Maison. An autopsy cited blunt trauma and asphyxiation. The case went unsolved for more than 8 years until investigators reopened it in ’25.
