The old Central Fire Station in Port Huron is being cleared to make way for new housing, likely condominiums, after demolition finishes next week. City Manager James Freed says a land use study will wrap up by summer’s end to guide the project. The fire station, built 65 years ago and closed last August, was demolished due to outdated facilities. While the site is prepared for development, any sale or lease of the waterfront property will need a public vote, keeping community access intact.
