Port Huron Museum Funding
The Community Foundation of St. Clair County has been a cornerstone in preserving Port Huron’s rich history, supporting the Port Huron Museums for 35 years. Through two key endowment funds—the John R. Dolan Fund and the Walter K. Brooks Memorial Fund—the Foundation has contributed nearly $3 million, covering 20% of the museum’s annual budget. These funds sustain daily operations, exhibits, staff, and historic sites like the Carnegie Center, Huron Lightship, and Fort Gratiot Lighthouse.

Duck Hunters Rescued
Two Michigan duck hunters were rescued from Wild Fowl Bay recently after waves swamped their boat two miles offshore. According to the Huron County Sheriff’s Office, a 64-year-old from Fenton and a 31-year-old from Kalamazoo called for help around 10 a.m. after strong winds sank their 14-foot boat, leaving it floating but submerged. Local firefighters used a private airboat to reach the men before official rescue teams arrived. The rescue operation lasted about 90 minutes.
