Fire Destroys Slaterville Market Roof

Fire crews in Lapeer Township battled a late-night blaze that caused a partial roof collapse at Slaterville Market on Imlay City Road. The fire was reported around 10:30 p.m. Wednesday, first called in as a transformer issue before being upgraded to a structure fire. Crews initially attacked the flames from inside but were forced out after worsening conditions and a collapsing roof. With no nearby hydrants, water had to be trucked in, slowing efforts. The fire was contained around 12:30 a.m. No injuries were reported.
