Over 37 million Americans are living with diabetes, according to the American Diabetes Association, with many more at risk. To help the community manage this condition, MSU Extension is offering free virtual sessions focusing on diabetes and prediabetes management. These lunchtime classes, running from November 5th to November 26, will cover vital topics like understanding diabetes, dietary strategies for controlling blood sugar, smart food choices, and staying active. Registration is open until November 20th.

In Port Huron, residents are frustrated as multiple political signs have gone missing in recent days. Thumb Land Conservancy

Last week, the Thumb Land Conservancy (TLC) secured an 80-acre piece of dune and swale forest for the Southern Lake Huron Coastal Park in St. Clair County, thanks to funding from the Consumers Energy Foundation. This new addition will help protect a rare coastal ecosystem, extending a 4.5-mile section north of Port Huron. Planned trails will connect Fort Gratiot Nature Park to Lakeport State Park. TLC’s efforts, supported by grants from The Carls Foundation and Consumers Energy Foundation, aim to preserve Michigan’s natural resources for future generations.
