Authorities in Oakland Township say a 77-year-old Northville woman is in critical condition after a high-speed crash Saturday evening on East Gunn Road. Deputies responded just before 5 p.m. to a single-vehicle wreck near a curved stretch east of Cook Court, where the woman reportedly tried to pass traffic. Investigators say she swerved to avoid an oncoming bicyclist, lost control of her Volvo, and hit a tree. A 12-year-old passenger was not hurt. Speed is believed to be a factor, and the crash remains under investigation.

A Fort Gratiot man is headed to trial after prosecutors say he carried out a violent crime spree across Macomb County.
