Kirkbride Joins MHS

McKenzie Health System has welcomed Khristine Kirkbride, a highly trained Doctor of Physical Therapy and Orthopedic Physical Therapist, to their Rehabilitation team. A Sandusky native and graduate of Sandusky High School, Kirkbride holds advanced degrees from Central Michigan University and Oakland University, along with a post-doctoral certification in Orthopedic Manual Physical Therapy. She specializes in treating musculoskeletal issues, including jaw pain and TMJ dysfunction.

Councilor Apology After Outburst

After being ejected from the November 26 council meeting for a heated outburst, Councilor Bill Dennis plans to apologize. Boil Water Advisory for Harsens Island

A water main break on Harsens Island caused a temporary loss of pressure, prompting a boil water advisory that is still in effect for residents. ITC Michigan Holiday Lights

ITC Michigan is spreading holiday cheer across the Lower Peninsula by decorating its nearly 150-foot-tall transmission towers with dazzling LED displays. Featuring up to 250 feet of lights, a 1,600-LED star, and a “Happy Holidays” sign made of 13,000 LEDs, the festive decorations are lighting up communities like Marysville and St. Clair every evening through January 5th. Designed by Michigan Graphics and Signs and installed by Utility Lines Construction Services, the displays have become a cherished holiday tradition, uniting neighborhoods.

MiCAN Climate Champs

The Michigan Climate Action Network will honor six leaders for their climate and civic engagement efforts today. The virtual event celebrates those making a difference, including Odalis Perales and Em Perry from Michigan United for challenging corporate influence in politics, and Megan Owens for expanding public transit. Andrea Pierce, founder of the Anishinaabek Caucus, and Janet Zahn of the Grand Rapids Climate Coalition are also recognized for their advocacy. Jack MacQuaig, coordinator of MSU’s Sunrise Movement, will receive the youth award for his climate justice work.

Free New Year’s Eve Rides

This New Year’s Eve, the Blue Water Area Transportation Commission is providing free, door-to-door rides to keep the community safe. Starting at 6:30 p.m. on December 31st, and running until 2:30 a.m. January 1st, the service will cover Port Huron, Marysville, Fort Gratiot, Port Huron Township, and Burtchville.
