Port Huron Approves Southend Affordable Housing Plan

Port Huron leaders have cleared the way for a long-delayed housing project on the south end. City Council voted to sell the old River District Market site on Electric Avenue for $5 to Woda Cooper Companies. The developer plans Robin Crest, a $17 million project with 50 affordable apartments, including supportive housing and barrier-free units. The complex would feature modern amenities and sustainable design, aiming for net-zero energy. Officials say shifting from condos to rentals better meets local housing needs. If state tax credits are secured, construction could begin in 2026.
