A tragic crash in Kimball Township Saturday night left one woman dead and several others hurt. Deputies say a 79-year-old man was driving a tractor pulling a hay wagon on Smiths Creek Road when a Buick Regal slammed into it from behind around 7:30. The tractor reportedly had no rear lights or slow-moving vehicle sign. An 85-year-old Kimball Township woman died at the hospital, and others were rushed to area hospitals with varying injuries. The crash remains under investigation by the St. Clair County Sheriff’s Accident Team.

A bat in St. Clair County has tested positive for rabies, the St. Clair County Health Department confirmed. One person who was bitten is now receiving medical treatment. Rabies is a deadly virus spread through bites or scratches from infected animals, mostly bats in Michigan. The International Symphony Orchestra, serving Sarnia and Port Huron, is pausing its current season due to financial challenges. Ticket sales have lagged, and rising costs made continuing unsustainable. The ISO has closed its Christina Street venue but plans to focus on education and outreach, including reviving the El Sistema youth program at Sarnia’s Imperial Theatre. Fundraising concerts are being planned to support the orchestra’s renewal. The Board says this pause will help the ISO build a stronger, more sustainable future.
