Affordable Housing Upgrades

Imlay City is set for a major boost in affordable housing thanks to federal funding awarded through the Michigan State Housing Development Authority. Townsend Manor II, an apartment complex, will receive more than $444,000 in Low-Income Housing Tax Credits to rehabilitate 48 units for residents earning below 60% of the area median income. Most of these units will also get rental assistance through a federal program, helping families keep housing costs affordable. The upgrades will improve living conditions and accessibility, while creating 22 temporary construction jobs.

Hit-and-Run Suspect Extradited

A man accused in a serious hit-and-run crash in Huron County is now back in Michigan to face felony charges. Prosecutors say the driver was extradited from Wisconsin after a June crash in Chandler Township left two people badly hurt. Investigators say a Dodge Charger hit a three-wheel Harley-Davidson motorcycle, forcing it off the road and into a field. The driver allegedly left the scene without stopping. Authorities later tied the crash to Jeremy Lee Tonn, saying evidence showed alcohol was a factor. He faces multiple felony charges.
