The Michigan Department of Transportation is investing $2.1 million to upgrade the Allen Road bridge over I-69 in Kimball Township. Two ice fishermen were rescued from Saginaw Bay near Sebewaing Township on Monday after falling into waist-deep water. A third fisherman called for help around noon when he noticed the pair struggling to climb back onto the ice. Fire and Police deemed the ice too dangerous for a direct rescue, so the Huron County Sheriff’s airboat was deployed. Within 50 minutes, the men were safely aboard the airboat and transported to shore for medical treatment. Authorities warn all fishermen to stay off the ice.
