Miracle on 34th Street

The Lapeer Community Theatre will bring the holiday classic Miracle on 34th Street to life at the PIX Theatre on Dec. 6-7th at 7:30 p.m. and Dec. 8th at 2:30 p.m. Tickets, available at Gallery 194, by phone, or online, are $20 for adults and $18 for seniors, students, veterans, and active military. Nominations are open for the 2025 Blue Water Woman of the Year Award, honoring outstanding local women making a difference in the community. On Thanksgiving day in the Blue Water Area, Meijer and Kroger on 24th Street in Port Huron Township will be open for last-minute shopping, with Meijer operating from 6 a.m. to 5 p.m. and Kroger from 6 a.m. to 3 p.m. Vinckier Food in Wadhams will open briefly from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m. Walmart, ALDI, Neimans Family Market in St. Clair, and Country Style Marketplace in downtown Port Huron will all be closed. Duck Hunters Rescued

Two Michigan duck hunters were rescued from Wild Fowl Bay recently after waves swamped their boat two miles offshore. According to the Huron County Sheriff’s Office, a 64-year-old from Fenton and a 31-year-old from Kalamazoo called for help around 10 a.m. after strong winds sank their 14-foot boat, leaving it floating but submerged. Local firefighters used a private airboat to reach the men before official rescue teams arrived. The rescue operation lasted about 90 minutes.

Kessler gets Prison Time

Robert Kessler, a former Landmark Academy bus driver, was sentenced to one to four years in prison for sending sexual texts to teenage girls. St. Clair County Judge Daniel Damman condemned Kessler for betraying students’ and parents’ trust. Kessler pleaded guilty to multiple charges, including possession of child sexually abusive material.
