A Hamtramck man has been sentenced to prison for sexually assaulting a 12-year-old girl in Port Huron earlier this year. Mansoor Obaid, 23, received six to 15 years
Monday. He must also register as a sex offender and wear a GPS tracker for life. Obaid admitted to multiple counts of sexual assault as part of a plea deal, while four more serious charges were dropped. The assault happened after Obaid drove the girl from a teen gathering to a parking lot. He apologized in court, claiming he thought she was older.

A deadly house fire in Millington Township recently left two people dead and four others hospitalized. Michigan State Police say the blaze broke out around 11:15 p.m. on November 24th. Family members tried to rescue a 53-year-old man and a 47-year-old woman but couldn’t get through heavy smoke. Four other residents were taken to a hospital, and a Millington officer who helped with the rescue was treated for smoke inhalation. The cause of the fire is still under investigation.

Deputies say a Burtchville Township man showed up at Lake Huron Medical Center on Thanksgiving with a stab wound to the chest. Investigators learned his girlfriend had stabbed him and hit him with a blunt object before he got help. He has since been released from the hospital. Deputies later arrested 28-year-old Taylor Spigner on Catawba Drive. She was charged with attempted murder and several assault counts. A judge in 72nd District Court set her bond at $250,000.

The St. Clair County Health Department has finished a major upgrade to the Teen Health Clinic at Port Huron High School. Funded by a $250,000 state grant, the renovations bring modern medical equipment, new cabinetry and sinks, and fresh flooring and furniture to create a teen-friendly space. The project ensures students have a safe, comfortable spot for care. The clinic serves youth ages 10–21, with parent consent required for those under 18. A public open house is set for December 15th from 1–6 p.m. on the high school campus.

A high-speed chase across Tuscola and Bay counties ended with a Fairgrove woman in custody. It began in Caro when police tried to stop a white GMC Acadia for an equipment violation, but the driver fled, reaching speeds over 100 mph. Troopers deployed spike strips in Reese, but the vehicle kept going through Saginaw and Bay counties, hitting a bridge gate in Bay City. The chase ended safely on Saginaw Street in Reese, and the 41-year-old driver now faces charges of fleeing and reckless driving.

A Port Huron murder case is moving toward trial as 40-year-old Jennifer Goodall prepares to face a jury on March 3rd. Prosecutors say she admitted to shooting her boyfriend, 23-year-old Chase Hoyt, during a September incident at a home on 10th Avenue. Police found Hoyt unresponsive with a chest wound, and a handgun with missing rounds was recovered from a dresser. A plea hearing is set for February 23rd. Goodall is charged with open murder and firearm offenses and could face life in prison if convicted.
